Stay Healthy This Winter with SGC

Winter tends to be the unhealthiest season for us and our families. Our bodies tell us to hibernate and indulge in rich warm meals that not only leave us heavier but depressed when summertime comes. No matter the weather, we needn’t be unhealthy. Make sure you stay on top of your game this winter in five easy steps:

Eat more fruit and veggies
Fruit and veggies are often the last thing we want to eat in winter. We want comfort food that goes with the cold and dark weather outside. But, it is vital to eat greens and nutritious foods which is why you have to explore your fruits and vegetables. You can always make some nice healthy soups that will comfort you and your family. If it’s the sweet stuff you want, eat some dried fruits.

Get flu vaccination
Flu can be dangerous, it can lead to hospitalization and sometimes death. The healthiest people can get it and spread it to others. Winter is regarded as a “flu season” and avoiding it is easy. Just get a flu vaccination. It provides protection against the spread of flu to you, your family and the community.

Sleep more
Did you know that lack of sleep affects your immune system?  This means that you are vulnerable to catching a cold. So, why not avoid that by taking advantage of winter’s long nights and befriend your bed? This is a good time to catch up on the nights you couldn’t sleep. Just create a sleeping routine that you can follow, like going to bed and getting up at the same time every day.

Wash your hands regularly
To avoid getting sick, wash your hands regularly. We want to eliminate the spread of bacteria and illnesses as much as possible this winter. Remember, we sneeze and cough a lot in winter and don’t want our families to be trapped in winter illnesses. Wash your hands before, and after preparing food, eating and most importantly after using the toilet.

Exercise to beat the winter blues
Prevent weight gain in winter by staying active. We get tempted to relax and put off exercising in this season because we get so tired and hear our couches and TVs calling us, but sticking to regular exercise will make you stay in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Saint Germain Catering wishes you a happy and healthy winter season!
